Working in a Title1 school, going beyond the test scores is a huge issue. The demographic data is very important to teachers and administration. This information tells you where the child is living and coming from. For instance, if a child is constantly worrying about where his or her next meal is coming from they might not be a concerned about what score they are making on a test. Their physical needs are more important to them as children. Once those physical needs are being met it will free the student up for internally investing time in learning. It might have more meaning and purpose at that point.
